In addition to its effect on bodily functions, the application of reflexology also has an effect on a person's mental and emotional sphere.
What is behind "Emotional Release Reflexology"?
From the practice of reflexology, we know that tensions in the body that do not dissipate also manifest themselves in the reflex zones, namely through sensitivity or pain when touched or pressure is applied. Just as a certain posture can create tension, so can emotions. If anxiety-inducing feelings and memories in particular are not processed, these can also manifest themselves through tension or malfunction in the body.
If we stimulate a sensitive reflex zone, the corresponding area of the body reacts. For example, the muscles that were in permanent tension as a reaction to a frightening experience can begin to relax. This relaxation can now make it possible to remember the experience that is the cause of the permanent tension, or initially to imagine it. In the latter case, we approach the entire memory in further steps and thus trace the psychosomatic reaction back to its origin. The experienced memory in the protected space is already part of the processing.
Understanding and empathetic guidance
The techniques used here are a combination of work on the reflex zones with specific questions, e.g. about inner images. A prerequisite for success is deep relaxation, so that content can be revealed that is no longer accessible to everyday consciousness.
With a sound understanding and sensitive empathy, the reflexologist accompanies her clients through processes that ultimately lead to the resolution of old fears and their causes.
In addition, we integrate the knowledge that certain reflex zones can represent specific emotional qualities.
The shape, color and proportions of the feet and toes can also be used to identify a person's strengths and weaknesses. These findings are based solely on experience and have no absolute claim to truth. They can point us in the right direction and help us, in collaboration with the client, to recognize and use their qualities and abilities.
Training in "Emotional Release Reflexology"
All techniques of the method are taught and practiced during the training in 4 modules of 2 days each with supportive supervision and plenty of practice outside the teaching modules. The focus is mainly on the reflex zones of the feet and great importance is attached to dealing sensitively and respectfully with the client's feelings. The stimulation of certain "master points" and reflex areas of the ear in particular support the deep relaxation into which clients are guided.
The method was developed by me over decades of experience with reflexology and both applied in practice and taught.
